Obituary of Stuart S. Berman

In Loving Memory of Stuart S. Berman Stuart S. Berman, 84, of Lawrenceville, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Mironov; his son, James Berman, and daughter-in-law, Dr. Carrie Capstick; his stepdaughter, Amy Mironov, and son-in-law, Michael Anderson; his treasured granddaughter, Sasha Capstick Berman; and his brother, Robert Berman. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Providence, RI, Stuart was the cherished son of Philip and Lilian Berman. He graduated from Brown University and Columbia Law School, setting the stage for a distinguished career in law and business. Stuart's legal journey began as a young lawyer at the Federal Reserve, paving the way for his role as assistant general counsel at Prime Motor Inns, now known as Prime Hospitality. He finished his legal career at Hillsborough Associates in Fairfield, NJ, where he served as in-house general counsel for many years. Beyond his professional achievements, Stuart was profoundly dedicated to aiding those affected by Gaucher Disease, a condition he personally battled. He actively supported the Gaucher Disease Center at NYU and frequently chaired patient meetings at The Yale Club, where his passion and advocacy brought people together, often filling rooms to the brim. A veteran of The Navy Reserve JAG Corps, Stuart's adventurous spirit was evident in his love for sailing, the many pilot lessons he undertook, and his stint as a New York City taxi driver. He was an ardent New York Yankees fan, going to opening day every year and often traveling to Florida for Spring Training with his close friends. Stuart also found joy in the western landscapes of Louis L'Amour novels and reading The New York Times, an essential daily ritual not to be missed. The family will honor Stuart's memory on Sunday, March 24, from 1 to 4 pm at their home in Lawrenceville, NJ. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
