Stuart was 6 months older than I, but was an academic year older at both Brown and Columbia Law School. We were close then and created wonderful memories of ski trips to Stowe and Aspen. Stuart was a mentor to me and others at Brown's sometimes raucous but always welcoming Tower Club. He was generous and humorous, but Judy and I treasure most of all his innate kindness at all times. Truly a great loss.

Among my fondest recollections are shared times with Stu; highlights include attending a reception at the House of Parliament (UK) over 20 years ago for the launch of a book on Gaucher disease. We both turned out to be fans of the Morse show on TV, and took advantage of being in the UK and went to Oxford for a day on a ‘Morse” tour-which involved visiting all the scene in town where murders took place! As the guide realized we were Americans, first stop-Bill Clinton’s dorm room-no dead bodies! When I had my daughter, Stu would mention milestones in Sasha’s life growing up; which I felt brought him real joy. He was also so proud of Jimmy, whom I understand he advised to take up law, as a ‘backup’-apparently Jimmy had been interested in being a writer after graduation. Often, I count as blessings the friendship and counsel of individuals such as Stu, and I am grateful for the time we spent together over the years. To Judith, Jimmy and family my deep sympathies.
