Obituary of Frank D. Ferry

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank D. Ferry, 105, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Twining Village Nursing Care Center, Holland, PA. Known to his family and friends as Poppop, Frank was born in Trenton, NJ on September 14, 1910, and was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville, NJ before moving to Holland. He retired as an Assistant Vice-President from Wells Fargo (formerly the Trenton Banking Company), where he was employed as a banker for many years. Frank was a member of the Lucky Club in High School and an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. Some of his hobbies included word search puzzles, dancing, storytelling, drinking a Coors Light, and spending as much time with his family as possible. If you were to ask him, Frank would say that he lived such a long wonderful life because of the love of his family. Son of the late Frank and Emma Ferry, husband of the late Elsie M. Ferry; he is survived by his son Clark B Ferry; his grandson, Jeffrey J. Ferry and his wife, Seychelle, his granddaughter, Dr. Susan E. Hoey and her husband, Brian; two great-grandchildren Ellory May Hoey and Praslin Phoenix Ferry; and his two nieces Barbara Ann Ford and her husband, Thomas, and Lynne MacBean. Even though Frank would say that his loving family was the greatest contributor to his longevity, anyone who talked to him would have found that his biggest saving grace was his ability to adapt. Even after losing his wife at age 90 and moving into an assisted living facility, he continued to adapt. When feeling lonely, instead of staying in his room, he sat down in the lobby and greeted those who were coming and going. When feeling bored, instead of just mindlessly watching tv he would complete a word search puzzle or he would pick up the Philadelphia Inquirer, which he read cover to cover every day. He could Skype, FaceTime, search Google, and would have probably learned to text if his family would have let him! It's no wonder he aptly earned the nickname The Chief as he certainly led the way in his forward thinking. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 12 Noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at Ewing Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 11-12 Noon at the funeral home.
