Obituary of William J. Phillips
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William J. Phillips, Jr., 81 of Ewing, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Princeton. We rejoice in the knowledge that he has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is eternally at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who he faithfully served for over 70 years.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident of Ewing Twp. William graduated from Trenton Central High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years at Caldwell Supply Co. in West Trenton and Congoleum Corp. in Hamilton before retiring in 1996. William was a former member of the Brae Burn Heights Community Chapel where he served for many years as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, deacon, and usher. He was a current member of Central: A Christ Centered Church in Ewing where he also served as an usher. Known as “Lump” to his friends and family, he enjoyed going to the movies, spending weekends with his family in Ocean City on the Jersey shore, day trips to Lancaster, PA and watching his favorite sports teams the Phillies, Eagles, and Sixers. His greatest joys in life were visiting his children and their families in Las Vegas and Florida, and attending all of his grandsons’ soccer, baseball, and lacrosse games.
Son of the late William J. Sr. and Margaret Sneddon Phillips, brother of the late Robert Phillips, and brother-in-law of the late John Brian and Edward Bailey, he is survived by his loving wife Carol Phillips with whom he recently celebrated 61 years of marriage; one daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jay Stremski of Seminole, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law William J. III and Courtney Phillips of Redington Shores, FL and Brian and Elaine Phillips with whom he resided in Ewing; three grandsons Zachary, Cameron and William J. IV Phillips; his sister and brother-in-law Joan and Donald Kubala; his three sisters-in-law Judith Phillips, Gail Applegate, and Betty Brian; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
