Obituary of S. Jerry Martini

S. Jerry Martini, 77, died Saturday while vacationing in Connecticut. Born in Trenton, he resided in Lawrenceville his entire life; he graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1955. Jerry retired from The Trentonian newspaper where he had a 35 year career in business management. In his retirement he was employed by Manheim Auctions of NJ, in Bordentown. He was a member of the Church of St. Ann where he was one of the first two babies to be baptized in 1938. He served in the NJ National Guard and was a member of the Lacey Elks and Lawrence Road Fire Department. Jerry will be remembered as a beloved husband, a generous father, grandfather and friend. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling and softball with his co-workers and friends. He liked getting out of town for long weekends and vacationing at his home in Fort Myers, FL. Jerry looked forward to his dinners out with dear friends and especially lunch with his ROMEOs. His greatest joy was his time spent with his family on Martini Family Fun Days and every moment with his eight grandchildren. Son of the late Irene C. Martini, he is preceded in death by his aunts, Julia Ferrazano, Lucy Cestra, and Margaret Tandy. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary. His daughters, Liz Martini, Jacqueline O’Leary (John) and Julia Tejeski (Don) and his grand-children Kevin, Jenna, Caisey, Jay, Tyler, Jameson Mary, Shay and his great-grandchild Cassiano. His aunt, Sandy Lorenz and his cousins, John & Cheryl Tandy, Sandra & Tim Cannon, Dee & Cliff Mallon, Patty & Malcolm Smith and their families. His brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, their families and many devoted friends, his godchildren and devoted friends. The funeral will be held at 9 am Friday from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am at The Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Family and friends may call from 4-8pm on Thursday at funeral home.
