Obituary of Maria Harendza-Harinxma

Maria (Hagemann) Harendza-Harinxma, a 50 year resident of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, sadly passed away on July 30 at the age of 90.
Born in Theiningsen, Germany, she completed her secondary education at the Volksschule in Lippstadt, Germany and worked for AOK Health Insurance Company for several years prior to marriage. In 1950, she married Dr. Alfred Harendza-Harinxma.
They moved to the United States in 1957, proudly became US citizens in 1967, and lived in Lawrenceville for more than 25 years.
After raising three daughters, Maria began a second career as assistant manager of the fine jewelry department at Hahnes department store at the Quakerbridge Mall, a job she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement.
Extremely artistic and proficient in multiple languages, Maria was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her creative style, gardening, wonderful cooking, beautiful Christmas decorations/celebrations but most of all for her amazing interpersonal skills and enduring positive attitude.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Alfred, in 1988. She is survived by her daughters, Ragnhild Harendza-Harinxma (Richard Jenkins), Beatrice Harendza-Harinxma (David DePinto), and Constance Harinxma (Christian Toelg), grandchildren, Joseph and Vincent DePinto, Victoria Harinxma-Jenkins, Shane and Carsten Harinxma-Toelg, Jonathan Jenkins, Shannon Reimann (Alexander), Michelle Reimann (Christopher) and four great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 5 from 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
A private family burial service will take place in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
