Josephine Marie Loveless, 90, of Lawrenceville, died peacefully at home on Tuesday surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City, Marie was raised in Casablanca, Morocco and resided there from 1926 until she returned to the United States in 1947. During WWII Marie stood on her rooftop home near Casablanca harbor and witnessed the American attack on the Vichy fleet. She has been a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 53 years. Marie was a member of the Church of St. Ann since 1962, volunteered at St. Ann School for many years and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at the church. Known as a fabulous cook and a talented seamstress, Marie worked at a Trenton sewing factory for many years, lovingly made all of her children’s clothing, made over 2000 Baptismal bibs for the church and beautifully crafted hundreds of hand sewn collectibles. She was fond of her doll and Christmas Caroler collections. The achievement she said she was most proud of, however, was raising her beloved family. Daughter of the late Gaspard and Vincente Ciaraveno Barresi she is survived by her husband, former Lawrence Twp. Police Chief, Nicholas R. Loveless; her daughter, Annette Marie Loveless and her husband John Middle; her sons, Walter Barresi and wife Susan; Richard Loveless and his wife Karyn and Robert Loveless; her grandsons, Peter Barresi and Nicholas Middle; her sisters, Jeanne Gaudino and Lucienne Renault and her brother, Antoine Barresi and is predeceased by a brother Vito Barresi and a sister Catherine Bonithon, all of France. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marie on Monday at 1 PM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
