Gary M. Gladwell, 78, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 28, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Born in West Virginia, he was a resident of Lawrenceville for 57 years. He retired from the NJ Commission for the Blind, where he ran the cafeteria in the Taxation Building for many years. Gary was in the Country and Western Band “The Gladwell Brothers”. He was known to his family and friends as the best lead guitar player ever. Gary was also honored and proud to play with his brothers, for the troops in Thule, Greenland. He was the recipient of a heart transplant 16 years ago. He was an active member of the Lawrence Meals on Wheels program and the Lawrenceville Senior Club #4. Son of the late Raymond and Veta Gladwell, brother of the late Raymond Gladwell, Ramona Saltzman and Shirley Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Rose Gladwell; 3 sons and daughters-in-law Gary Jr. and Anne Gladwell, Jeffrey and Carolyn Gladwell and John and Brenda Gladwell; his daughter and son-in-law Tracey and Carlo Conrad; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Richard Burnett, 4 brothers and sisters-in-law Arlie and Lorna Gladwell, Tony and Alexandria Gladwell, Floyd and Mary Gladwell and Sam and June Gladwell; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Entombment will follow at Princeton Memorial Park, Robbinsville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-5PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gary’s memory to the Gift of Life Donor Program 401 N 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19123 or to the American Heart Association 1 Union Street, Suite 301 Robbinsville, NJ, 08691.
