William F. Stilwell, 87, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Friday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton. Born in Trenton, Bill was a resident of Lawrenceville since 1950. He was a Marine Corp Veteran of WW II having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations and was recipient of the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in the assault and capture of Okinawa. Bill retired in 1990 as the Quality Control Manager at the American Standard Company where he was employed for 30 years. He began his career at Trenton Potteries and had an avid knowledge of pottery and as such was a collector of pottery made in the Trenton area. He was a member of the Church of St. Ann and the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the church, but most of all he was a loving husband and father and always concerned in helping others. Son of the late Harry and Emma McKinney Stilwell; husband of the late, Mary Albanese Stilwell and brother of the late, Mae Stilwell, Myrtle Jones, Helen Hunt, Harry Stilwell, Jr., Elmer Stilwell and George Stilwell; he is survived by his wife, Joyce Kubala Stilwell; his son, Frank E. Stilwell; his sister, Rose Leming; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Joan Kubala; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend and Marine buddy, Walter Yetman, who stood beside him until his passing, something that family will always be grateful.Semper Fi A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bill on Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Michael’s R.C. Church, Trenton. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
