Obituary of Kathryn McKee DeFillipo
Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathryn“Kit” McKee DeFillipo, 54, of Lawrenceville went to rest peacefully at home on Saturday surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Princeton, Kathryn was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 20 years. She attended Notre Dame High school and moved on to further her education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She began working with Computer Associates and ADR. Kit followed her true passion and earned her teaching degree cum Laude from Rider University in 2005. She was a second grade teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in the Lawrence Township School District for 7 years. Even outside of the classroom, her students-better known as her little kiddies- brought her joy whether it was on the athletic fields or dance stage. She also was a dedicated volunteer for the Special Olympics in New Jersey. Kit was extremely fond of all animals, but there was a special place in her heart for her little Tink. Her favorite pleasures included doing everything and anything for her three girls, celebrating the holidays with family, and collecting Annalee figurines in preparation for every special occasion. For the past 50 years she spent a part of every summer with her family at her beloved Osspiee Lake, New Hampshire. Above all else she was a loving mother to her three girls and devoted her life to them.
Predeceased by her father James J. McKee Sr. and brother James J. McKee Jr., Kit is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas DeFillipo; her loving daughters, Danielle, Shannon, and Nicole; her mother, Theresa Mulryne McKee; her sister Theresa McKee Stores and husband James, her sister-in-law Deborah McKee. Kit is also survived by her nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to a special cousin, Kelly Restaino for her compassion and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Kit on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Princeton.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. There will be no additional calling hours on Wednesday prior to mass.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated in Kit’s memory to the DeFillipo Childrens Education Fund, c/o The Santander Bank, 121 Franklin Corner Road Lawrenceville, NJ, 08648.
