Samuel J. “Sam” Valeri, 91, of Lower Makefield Township died peacefully on Monday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton with his devoted daughter and grandson by his side. Born in Trenton, Sam was a resident of Lower Makefield for the past 46 years. He was employed with the Naval Air Warfare Jet Propulsion Center in Ewing Township where he served for 35 years and retired as a Senior Rigger in 1983. He served his country during WWII and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and was the last surviving WW II veteran of the Iowa Class Battleship, USS Missouri. Sam was a long time member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lower Makefield and was a 4th Degree Knight with Council # 7515. He was also a proud member of the N.R.A. Son of the late Clemente and Philomena Silvestri Valeri, husband of the late Jean Landolfi Valeri, brother of the late Josephine Valeri Scarano, August J. Valeri and Benedetto Valeri and father-in-law of the late Fred V. Bruschini, he is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Valeri-Bruschini, his grandson, Brandon A. Valeri-Bruschini, his two brothers-in-law, Ralph Landolfi and his wife Loretta and Pat Landolfi and his wife Barbara, a sister-in-law, Loretta Oddo, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Sam on Thursday, August 28, at 11 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Madonna Mausoleum, Hamilton, NJ. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 AM until time of Mass in the daily chapel at the church.
