Obituary of Francis G. deBlois

Dr. Francis Gerry deBlois, 80, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility, Lawrenceville.
He attended Trenton Catholic High School, Villanova University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, and Interned at Richmond Heights General Hospital in Cleveland, OH. Dr. deBlois was on the staff at St. Francis Medical from 1969 until he retired, and was a partner in Ewing Medical Associated for 30 years.
Board certified in Family Medicine, he was past President of Mercer County Academy of Family Medicine and was board certified in Urgent Care. He was awarded “The Spirit of St. Francis Physicians Award, a member of Council 7000 Knights of Columbus and was Knight of the year in 2006-2007, a member of S. Ann’s Adult Choir for 22 years and sang with the Choir in 1996 in Rome for Pope John Paul II. A member of St. Ann’s Resurrection Choir for many years and sang at all funeral masses. Dr. DeBlois had been the coordinator of The Parish Respect Life Ministries, inspiring a number of parishioners to join him in prayerful witness for The Right To Life Movement.
He loved playing the piano, harmonica, singing and playing tennis 3 days a week. His greatest passion was watching his grandsons play basketball from middle school through college. He fondly referred to his grandchildren as “The Magnificent Eight.” Francis also enjoyed gardening, vacationing with his wife, many cruises and trips to Paris to visit his daughter. Rome, Cape Cod and Lake Placid were among his favorites destinations.
He and his wife Doris celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, July 10. They were High School Sweethearts and married when they were 19&20 and fondly refereed to her as “Dar-Babe.” Dr. deBlois always said he wanted his patients to know “He loved being a Doctor, but loved his patients the most.
Son of the late J. Albert deBlois, Sr. and Anna Devaney deBlois, brother of the late Dr. J. Albert deBlois, Jr, Eileen deBlois; he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Doris Kelley deBlois; 3 daughters Kathleen Prevost of Paris, France, Constance Alton and her husband Robert, Valerie LeMoing and her husband Laurent; 8 grandchildren 4 boys Jeffrey Alton, William Alton, Maxwell Alton and True Alton; 4 girls Charlotte and Pauline Prevost, Tess and Chloe LeMoing; his brothers and sister Donald deBlois, Noel deBlois and wife Evelyn and Germaine and John Crush; his sister-in-law Betty deBlois Rickett; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Francis will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 beginning at 10 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 5-8PM at the funeral home
