Obituary of Masao Ronald Nakayama

Masao Ronald Nakayama, 66, of Lawrenceville passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born in Bridgeton, New Jersey, He was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 26 years. Ronald was a graduate of Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania where he received his B.S. in Mathematics.
Ronald retired in 2006, after 32 years of service, from the State of New Jersey, Department of the Treasury, Division of Taxation and Revenue where he served as a Supervising Investigator Field.
He was a proud veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and as such was a member of the American Legion Post #414 of Lawrenceville. He was also a member of the Japanese American Citizen League of Seabrook, New Jersey. He was a former basketball coach with the Lawrence Township Recreation League. In his leisure time he enjoyed fine dining, fishing, camping and enjoyed the outdoors especially the Jersey shore at Wildwood. He was an avid sports fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Son of the late Masakazu and Aiko Nakamura Nakayama and brother of the late Samiko Jeanne Nakamoto he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dolores “Dee” Nakayama; his son, James Gerald Nakayama, which he affectionately called "Boy-san", of Columbia, MD; his daughter, Kristina Reneé Aiko Nakayama, who was the "Apple of his Eye", also his "fishing and lunch buddy" of Lawrenceville; his sister, Hiroko Peggy Sabla and her husband Joseph of Upper Deerfield Twp., NJ; three brother-in-laws, Saneyuki “Sonny” Nakamoto of Frederick, MD; Eduardo Hertel and his wife Melodie of Jacksonville, FL; Robert Hertel, of Somerset, NJ. two sister in-laws, Cynthia Hill of Hamilton Twp. and Matilde Hertel, of Somerset, NJ; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Callan and her husband Michael of Jefferson, MD; Sharon Davis and her husband Matthew of Frederick, MD; Anna Hertel, of Jacksonville, FL: Anthony Sabla of Upper Deerfield Twp; Jeffrey Sabla and wife Patti of Vineland; Gregory Sabla of Hopewell, Richard Nakamoto of Chambersburg, PA; Dylan and Matthew Hill of Hamilton Twp. NJ; his 2 great nephews, Trevor Davis of Frederick, MD and Ryan Callan of Jefferson, MD; and his 3 great nieces, Leilani Davis of Frederick, MD and Anastasia and Annika Nakamoto both of Chambersburg, PA. Also included are several aunts, uncle and cousins from New Jersey and California.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Nakayama Family.
A memorial service will be held for Ronald on Saturday February 15 at 2:00 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Friends and relatives may call from 1:00 - 2:00 PM
