Obituary of Jule Michael Erdie
Please share a memory of Jule to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julius “Jule” Michael Erdie, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 16th, 2014 with his family beside him.
Jule was born in Trenton and remained a life-long Trenton area resident his entire life. Jule was a very accomplished man: he graduated from Trenton Catholic and then Niagara University with his lifelong pal George "Bullet" Ender. After college, Jule proudly served overseas in Japan for the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Once he returned to the U.S. he served a career in N.J. State public service eventually becoming Assistant Commissioner for the N.J. Department of Health. Jule was also chairman of the Trenton Police Athletic League for many years, coach of the Trenton PAL Tigers little league team, member of VFW Post #3022, American Legion Post #414 and parishioner of the Church of St Ann. Jule enjoyed being on his boat, sailing the coast with his friends, travelling with his wife, golfing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and just sitting on his front porch.
However, if you asked Jule what his greatest accomplishments were he would tell you it was raising his 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Jule was a proud American who always put his family first and will truly be missed by those who had the privilege to know him.
Greeting Jule in heaven will be his parents, Julius and Frances Erdie, his sister Rose Erdie Armstrong and his son Matthew. He leaves behind his wife Patricia, his daughter Mary Ellen Erdie, his son Julius Michael Erdie Jr. and his wife Dawn, his son John “Pape” Erdie and his wife Denise, his son Patrick Erdie and his wife Kathy, his grandchildren Philip Prassas and his wife Lindsey, Isabella Guhl-Erdie, William Guhl-Erdie, Matthew Guhl-Erdie, Erin Erdie and Patrick Erdie and his great grandchildren Dylan Prassas and Gracelyn Prassas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 Am at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 7 to 9 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. There will be no calling or viewing Tuesday morning prior to mass.
