Albert A. Chmiel Jr. of Naples, FL passed into the loving hands of the Lord on Tuesday at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in Hamilton.
Born in Trenton and a long time Lawrenceville resident, Albert had resided in Naples, FL since 1982.
He was a Navy World War II veteran and served as a skilled craftsman with the Seabees.
After the war, Albert attended Temple University.
For forty-five years Albert was a contractor and owned Albert A. Chmiel Inc., responsible for building small developments in the Lawrence Township area. He enjoyed farming and was considered a gentleman farmer by his friends and family.
From childhood he was an avid yachtsman and in his retirement he owned a yacht dealership, and had his own charter fishing yacht in Naples named, Prince Albert.
Albert was a member of the American Legion Post #414.
Son of the late Albert A. and Rose Tuckage Chmiel, and husband of the late Patricia Closson Chmiel, he is survived by his wife, Mary Meszaros Chmiel, his three sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph and Diana Chmiel, Christopher and Delilah Closson, and Clifford and Wanda Chmiel, his four daughters: Doretta Reed and her husband Allen, Loretta Lawrence her husband Arthur, Pamela Chmiel, and Veronica Frihart and her husband Walter, his step-children: Barbara Marshall and her husband David, Barry Mack, and Dian Soltes, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His sister Alice Kowalski also predeceased him.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church of Devine Mercy Parish, 201 Adeline Street, in Trenton. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Albert’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
