Obituary of Eleanor Ellie Downs

Eleanor “Ellie” M. Downs, 48, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Thursday at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Trenton, and a former resident of Ewing she was an area resident all of her life. Ellie was employed as a computer technician for the State of New Jersey Lottery Commission in Lawrenceville for over 22 years. Ellie always enjoyed attending her daughters sporting events and had a fondness for entertaining family and friends. She never missed her Friday night happy hour that either she would host or attend at a friends home. Daughter of the late Edward Skorupa, she is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey Downs, her two daughters; Stephanie and Morgan Downs, her mother Florence Skorupa, her two sisters and brothers-in-law; Mary and Mel Elliott, and Janet Ciccone-Szejner and Bob Szejner, and her brother and sister-in-law; Bob and Judy Skorupa, and her nieces and nephews; Jennifer and Michael Elliott, and Christopher and Daniel Ciccone, and Jason, Michael, Todd, and Kim Skorupa. Ellie is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Patricia Downs, and her two brothers-in-law; Scott Downs and his wife Heather and Gregg Downs and his wife Robin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing. Friends may call on Sunday from 6 PM to 9 PM and again on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
