Obituary of John S. Marsh

John Stryker Marsh, 85, of Morrisville died early on Friday, September 16, 2011 at home with his daughters by his side holding his hands. A resident of Morrisville, PA for 47 years John was originally from Trenton, NJ. John was the son of the late William R. and Margaret S. Marsh. He is survived by his two daughters, Lyn Mount and her husband Jack of Yardley, PA and Christie Nicholson and her husband Mark of Vermont. John was also brother to the late William F. Marsh of Yardley. John enlisted for the duration of World War II and served with the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class. He retired after 38 years of service from American Bridge Corporation and U.S. Steel Fairless Works. John truly loved life, loved his Lord as his “Great Friend” and loved his church. He enjoyed volunteering every Monday with his friends counting out the pledges for his church where he was a member for over 75 years. John believed he had the best doctors in the world caring for him and there was only one hospital for him, Mercer Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM in the lounge of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 471 Parkside Avenue, Trenton, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 Am in the church sanctuary with the Rev. Jan Willem van der Werff, pastor, officiating. John’s daughters and their husbands will bury John along with his wife of 58 years, who was previously deceased on 12/31/09, Joyce Scheese Marsh in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Nordmont, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 471 Parkside Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618.
