Obituary of Elide A. Fabbro

Elide A. Fabbro, 86, of Lawrenceville, a wonderful wife, mother and Nonna died peacefully Saturday at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City with her devoted family and friends at her side.
Born in Trenton she was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 59 years. She was a member of the Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville and also had served as a Eucharistic minister.
Elide was a survivor of the Depression who went on to become a nurse who worked labor and delivery during World War II. She was a former middle and grade school teacher and a beloved Italian teacher at the Lawrence Township Senior Center for which she was featured on the front page of the Lawrence Ledger. She was a seemstress at Stacy’s in Lawrenceville for many years and was host to her own Italian show on WBUD.
In her leisure Elide enjoyed reading, sewing, opera, following the Yankees and traveling throughout Europe and Italy where she enjoyed visiting relatives. Most of all however, she enjoyed spending time with her family and believed “La Famiglia” to be the essence of life.
Elide was known to be always dressed impeccably and was a meticulous housekeeper and exceptional cook. She was a creative soul who embellished many of her original productions with glitter and sparkle. She was a fabulous mother who ruled with strictness and love and was ever so proud of her children’s accomplishments. She was a graceful lady who was loved by her students young and old and her many friends; she was the most loving friend anyone could ever have.
Daughter of the late Mariano and Albina Gratilli Romano, wife of the late Leo Elio Fabbro and mother of her beloved late son, Dr. Leo A. Fabbro, she is survived by her loving daughter, Lydia Fabbro Keephart, Esq. and her husband William J. of Lawrenceville; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Carver Fabbro of Indian Shores, Florida; two granddaughters, Christine Fabbro of New York City and Lisa Sprague and her husband, Rob, of Skillman; a grandson, Jonathan Fabbro Keephart, Esq. of Washington, D.C; a sister-in-law, Luigina Colussi and her husband, Leo, of Canada and five great-grandchildren. Elide treasured her close friends and adored her nieces, nephews and cousins in both Toronto, Canada and Rome, Italy. She is also survived by her precious Teacup Yorkie, Little Nell, along with Cadence, Almalfi and her cats Mimi and Honey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Elide on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Entombment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Madonna Mausoleum in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday at the Church of St. Ann from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 9 PM and on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until time of Mass at the Church of St. Ann.
