Obituary of Chester F. Zakreski

Chester F. Zakreski, 89, of Lawrence Township, died Thursday at the University Medical Center at Princeton. Born in Dickson City, PA, he had resided in Lawrenceville since 1966. Chester was an Army Air Force veteran of WW II. He received his B.A. from Rider College and his M.A. from Rutgers University. He retired from Rider University in 1983 as the Dean of Men, Associate Dean of Students and Professor of Business Administration. He was a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, Co-Chairman of the 175th Anniversary of the founding of Lawrence Township, and founder of the Rider University Retirees’ Club. Chester was a member and past president of Lawrence Township Senior Citizens Club #5, a member of the Lawrence Township Historical Society, and a former member of the Lawrence Township Lions Club. Son of the late Stanley and Stella Coveleskie Zakrzewski, and brother of the late Stanley Zakrzewski, he is survived by his beloved wife Irene Filice Zakreski, a daughter Nancy Freeman and her husband John of Darien, CT., three sons Richard S. Zakreski and his wife Julie of Fair Haven, NJ, Robert W. Zakreski of Trenton, and Randall J. Zakreski and his wife Katie of Downingtown, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Matthew, Laura, Katie, Jamie and Peter Zakreski and John and Christian Freeman, three sisters Pearl and Bernice Liput and Jean Friedman, and a sister-in-law Rosina McKee. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors Directors, 650 Lawrence Road Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at The Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Hamilton Township.
