Ruth Elizabeth Pelovitz, nee Frank, 79, of Lawrence Township, passed away Friday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center. Born in New York City, N.Y. and raised in Cranford, N.J. Mrs. Pelovitz was a graduate of Mount Holyoke College Class of 1953 and held a Certificate in Business Administration from Radcliffe College. Ruth was married to Milton Pelovitz in 1961 and resided in Lawrence Township for 49 years. Devoted to her family, she raised her children, Dorothy and David, and served the integral role of guardian to her niece, Lisa Herbert, after the loss of her parents. She took pride in watching all three grow to become respected adults and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Pelovitz lived a full, happy life with her family. She worked in business in New York City before becoming a certified teacher in early childhood education at Rider College. She also was co-owner and co-director of the Princeton Pike Day Care Center for over a decade. She took particular joy in baking cookies and travelling with her family as well as story-telling at local schools and libraries. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dorothy A. Frank and Andrew Hollander of Chatham, N.J.; her son and daughter-in-law, David L. Pelovitz and Sharon Stoneback of Lawrenceville, N.J.; her niece Lisa A. Herbert of Culver City, CA.; her grandchildren Cassidy and Jordan of Lawrenceville, N.J., and Caleb and Sam of Chatham, N.J. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Milton Pelovitz of Lawrenceville, her parents Everett G. and Ruth Frank of Cranford, N.J. and her brother, Everett G. Frank II of Rosemont, PA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 12 noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association (http://www.diabetes.org/how-to-give/) or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (http://www.macular.org/howhelp.html).
