Obituary of Loren J Flickinger

Loren “Larry” Joseph Flickinger passed away at Lourdes Hospital in Willingboro, NJ on December 31, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old. Larry is survived by his wife Valerie Gerstanacker Flickinger, his daughter’s family, Lisa Flickinger Onady, Thomas Nelson and grandchildren Erin and Adam Onady. He had two steps-sons, William Harrison, Mark Harrison and his wife Patrice and grandchildren Joey, Bryanna and Robert Loren. H is brother in law and friend, James Gerstanacker. He is also survived by daughters Renae Flickinger, Loreen Lomonoco, her husband Bruce and grandchildren Brian and Lauren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was born in Washington, D.C. the son of the late Samuel Flickinger and Ann Isaacson Flickinger. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Walsh, his brothers Samuel and John Flickinger and predeceased by his sister Meryl Cook. Larry was a member of Trenton Elks lodge 105, Italian American Association and Columbus Observance Committee. Larry started his career in management working for REA Express in 1955 where he worked for over twenty years. In 1976 he opened “Larry’s Corner Tavern,” a popular bar, which he owned until 1995. He then opened “Larry’s Wine and Sprits.” In 1999 he went to work for Trenton Parking Authority. He was an industrious man who worked hard until the very end of his life, and had everyone convinced that work was his hobby. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services for Larry will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Very Rev. Msgr. James G. Innocenzi, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing. Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Trenton Elks Lodge #105 B.P.O.E. will conduct services at 7:30 PM.
