Obituary of Bernard Jerome Klockner

Bernard Jerome Klockner died October 20, 2009, surrounded, as he always preferred to be, by members of his family. Bernard, known to his many friends as ""Mike"", was born in 1920. He was raised by his late parents, Richard B. Klockner and Marion Tidgewell Klockner, in Mercerville. Mike lived in the area all his life, mostly in Hamilton Township and Lawrenceville with his wife of 61 years, Nancy Jane Klockner, who predeceased him last year. Mike was also predeceased by his brother Richard B. Klockner. Mike graduated from Hamilton High School in 1939. He served in the United States Army during World War II, mostly in the Pacific Theater until his discharge on January 4, 1946. He was an officer with the Hamilton Township Police Department for a number of years, and later a member of the Capital Police division of the New Jersey State Police, from which he retired in 1982. Mike is survived by his children, Karen L. Dunn, Lizbeth Daly, Russell H. Klockner, and Michael W. Klockner, two daughters-in-law, Donna Klockner and Dolores Klockner, and a son-in-law, Dennis Daly. Mike has five grandchildren, John, Shane, Ian, Nicholas and Jennifer, and many nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Donna Louise Hoeffel. Mike enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling and softball well into his later years, but mostly he loved his family, who loved him back. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville.
