Obituary of Russell M Taylor

Russell M. Taylor, 92, a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville, NJ died on Saturday.
Born in Manalapan Township, Russ was a graduate of Freehold High School. He served in the Army 143rd infantry during WWII and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Russ was architect, builder and engineer of the family home in Lawrenceville. His 50 plus year career as a sign painter started out of the back of a Model A Ford where he hand lettered signs and vehicles. He later worked for Hutchinson Signs and Cutler Industries where Russ was responsible for signs small and large all across NJ and PA including the world famous Trenton Makes the World Takes sign.
In retirement he channelled his creative talents and humorous nature into computer designed artwork including special occasion cards for his grandchildren.
Before his wife's passing, Russ and Alda enjoyed socializing and traveling with friends and family. In his later years, he continued his enjoyment of travel with his friend and neighbor, crossing the country in a Winnebago, visiting friends, relatives and points of interest. Additional interests included golfing, puzzles and computer activities.
Son of the late Myron Russell and Mary Edna Mount Taylor, husband of the late Alda Baird Taylor, and brother of the late John Taylor, he is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law; Patricia and Michael O'Connor of Moreland Hills, OH, and Jean and Ric Principato of Robbinsville, NJ, his grandchildren; John and Gregory O'Connor and Eric, Alena, Michelle, and Christa Principato, his sisters; Reba Beith, Nion Potter, and Ruth Newman and her husband Leonard, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve-Contributions, 300 E 185th Street, Cleveland, OH 44119.
