Obituary of Richard A. Gray
Richard A. Gray, 74, of Lawrenceville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 4, 2024 at Penn Medicine Princeton Hospital in Plainsboro, NJ. Despite many years of physical and health challenges he truly lived life to the fullest.
Born in Venezuela to missionary parents, he was a long-time resident of Haddonfield, and recently of Lawrenceville, NJ.
Son of the late Richard Gray Sr. and Ruth Peterson; he is survived by his devoted wife Joan and 5 children: four daughters Kim Khiabani (Farmin), Meredith Jones (Matthew), Christine Hosephros (Michael), and Tracy Howard (Sean), and one son Keith Gray deceased in 2009. Richard also had 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 6 sisters-in-laws, 11 brothers-in-laws, and a beloved mother-in-law. He cherished each and every member of this fully blended family. He was truly the center of all family gatherings.
Rich was an active member of the Joy Community Fellowship Church in Haddon Heights NJ. He was a long-time employee of Service Master Industries as Management Director for hospital support services. He had his own business in Haddonfield, “Custom Computers + More” at a time when computers were first coming out. Personal connections were always important to Rich, which was apparent in the time he spent doing home visits, at first helping his customers set-up and understand their first home computer, and later assisting businesses create their first networked computers.
Rich enjoyed nature, camping, s’mores, landscaping, architectural drawing and building projects. He was a true artist at heart and drew many of his own blueprints for home improvement projects. Rich enjoyed traveling to visit family throughout the country with frequent trips to Florida, California, and Massachusetts. He also enjoyed spending time locally with his family often in Ocean City and Cape May NJ as well as ski trips and mountain house trips.
Rich had a larger-than-life infectious personality that filled any home or room. He was an eternally youthful spirit of fun and mischief, and brought joy everywhere he went.
A celebration of life for Richard will be held on August 24th at The Boathouse at Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township from 11-2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Joy Community Fellowship Church in Haddon Heights, NJ.
