Obituary of George "Tony" A. Wilson
George “Tony” Anthony Wilson, 87, of Lawrenceville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 16, 2024 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.
Born in Washington, DC he was a long time resident of Lawrence Township.
Tony dedicated over 38 years writing as a news reporter for the Trentonian Newspaper. Upon his retirement in 2003 a lengthy news article was dedicated to Tony for his years of service to the newspaper.
Beside following local and national politics, Tony was a lifelong sports enthusiast; both in participation and in cheering. Tony played racquetball and tennis back in the day (often partnering with his wife Elaine) and was an avid swimmer. Later in life, he took up golf and occasionally spent the day on the course with his brother-in-law Leonard. He originally was a fan of all teams Washington in his youth but had the good sense to become an avid Eagles and Phillies fan once he moved north to Trenton. He even saw his first hockey game when he drove his nephew to a Flyers game in his old VW Beetle. Tony also loved to play the ponies (never successfully) and always remained loyal to his and his brother’s alma mater football team, William & Mary.
Son of the late Fred E. Wilson, Sr. and Elizabeth Newman; Tony is predeceased by his brother Fred E. Wilson, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife Elaine; sister in law Donna Wilson of Alexandria, Virginia, nephew Donald Wilson of Arlington, Virginia, niece Amanda Keller of Richmond, Virginia, sister-in-law's Nancy Procaccino, Gloria Ramsey of Hamilton, New Jersey and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
