Obituary of Michael W. Seigfried, Sr.
Michael W. Seigfried, Sr., 75, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully in the company of his sons on Friday May 31, 2024, at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton, NJ.
Born in Long Branch, NJ, Michael was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville. He retired following a 30 year tenure at the NJDOT, where he achieved the title of Director of Construction Services. Michael loved trips to Vermont, where he reliably spent at least two weeks every year fishing and boating on his beloved Lake Bomoseen. Michael’s love for cars was well known; his lifetime collection included dozens of interesting and significant cars, and this collection became more exotic as he matured. Michael’s true love, however, was that for his wife, Elaine. Dad was crushed by her passing in June, 2023, which undoubtedly contributed to his passing less than a year later. Michael was a longtime parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Trenton.
Son of the late Adam and Amelia (Habermann) Seigfried, and husband of the late Elaine M. (Griswald) Seigfried, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Michael W. Jr. “Mick” and Michele (Auletta) Seigfried, and Steven and Jessica (Dmitruck) Seigfried. Michael leaves behind four grandchildren, Madi, Amelia, Hannah, and Michael, whom he loved with all his heart. Michael was predeceased by his sisters Katherine Cross (George) and Eva Conover (Ed), and is survived by his brothers Joseph (Louise) and Thomas (Stephanie), and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 10:30AM at St. Michael’s Church 1130 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08638.
Interment will be held in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Ewing Twp.
The visitation for Michael will be held on Friday morning from 9-10AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Michael’s memory to American Cancer Society www.cancer.org
