Dear Robin, Theresa and Katie:
What can I possibly say about Joe that you don't already know? He was a superb husband and father, not to mention a caring brother and devoted son and nephew. He will be greatly missed by many people, especially our family. He was an inspiration to us all. I am truly blessed to have had Joseph as my brother. Love, (Aunt) Mary

Dear Robin, Theresa, and Katie-
Our loss is so difficult because our love was so great for Joe. As a brother, brother-in-law, husband, father, son, friend, neighbor or colleague - he was so much to all of us. He blessed our lives with so much joy, love, and grace, always wanting the best for us, always wanting to help us. We carry on now in that love and caring that was so much a part of him.
Joe - thank you for it all. We will all have a wonderful reunion in heaven. You are always here in our hearts.
Love, Your Sister, Anne

I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Joe just a few years ago -- but I have some great memories in that short time. His visits to New Orleans were always fun-filled. He treated me like another daughter, inviting me to join the family in everything they did. We certainly shared some great meals together - and maybe even a drink or two along the way. A truly wonderful and loving man.

It was the fall of 1964 when Joe and I first met in Chem. 101. at Rutgers. What started the friendship was not our common Italian, Catholic upbringing, nor our similar taste in young woman, but the failing grade we each received on the first test.
The grades got better and the relationship grew.
We each got married and raised a family. Unfortunately, mine was over 2500 miles from Joes'. In the old days we stayed in touch by actually writing letters with a pen. With the arrival of the computer and word processing, Joe's handwriting was no longer an issue. Our correspondence grew exponentially with the advent of EMAIL.
It was over the last two years as Joe's illness progressed that the emails and the phone calls increased in frequency. It was during this time that our friendship grew to a new level.
I realized that Joe should not only be considered a true friend, but should be held up as a role model. A role model as a husband, a father, a son, a brother and as a Christian.
In John 13:34,35 Jesus says, As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
BY THIS ALL MEN WILL KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
Surly Joe passed this test.

Joseph always had a warm smile and a loving heart. He was the brother I never had. My fondest memory of Joseph was when he taught me how to ride my bicycle. We practiced and he ran behind me until he let go. I was on my own but I landed in the neighbors bushes. He picked me up had me get back on my bicycle and sent me off. I was so happy I could do it on my own. Anne and I share many childhood memories that include Joseph. We will carry his love in our hearts and as we sit and remember our childhood, Joseph will be right there with us. We are all very fortunate to have had Joseph in our lives. I will miss him very much and never stop loving him.
Love, Patty

I had the privilege of working with Joe at PMC. He was one of the most positive colleagues that I had the pleasure to work with. We always knew that chocolate cake would make his day. When he ran the management meetings he would always start the meeting with a joke or a story. I can't remember the content of the meeting today, but I do remember some of the jokes. Joe you will be missed... I know that God will have some chocolate cake waiting for all of us when we meet again someday.

As Howard Needlemanâ??s younger brother, I had the rare opportunity to know Joe for over 41 years both as Howardâ??s trusted and best friend but also as an â??adoptedâ? roommate, where I lived with them (brother, Joe, Larry and Robert) on Remsen Avenue for several weeks during their senior year and my freshman year at Rutgers. I remember quite vividly his courtship with Robin. My knowledge of Joe was not superficial: broke bread with his family in Hasbrouck Heights and been apprised of his career and family ever since.
Joe was a bright light to all that touched his life; always a smile, endearing by nature, calm and collected throughout, insightful and most important calm and true. Never has there been one who walked so tall and yet took such little notice in himself. He was there for all and always a pleasure to be around. The medical community has pills for feeling good; mankind had Joe for making one feel good. Joe, I know our paths were few in the years following Rutgers, but a piece of you will remain with me always, in time like this, I seek your smile for comfort and compassion.

I had the pleasure of working under Joe at Pocono Medical Center. He was a gentleman. He loved his family and shared many stories about Long Beach Island. Always proud to talk about his family and show off his pictures in his office. The strength he showed during his illness was remarkable. How he looked forward to the wedding of his daughter. He is a man I have a lot of respect for and will truly miss. I am very sorry for your loss.

Joe is my oldest and fondest college friend...we met on September 1964 having been assigned to the same dorm and floor at Rutgers...since then we've shared much...we found our wives from the same college across town (Douglass), went to many fun events and stayed in touch as we found our careers, success and family life. No truer and sweeter man has ever cross my path in the 45 years since that 1st day at Rutgers!
Joe taught me much about how do conduct myself by his example...loyality, friendship, honesty and caring are traits that I strive to emulate and to the extent that I exhibit them Joe's soul will forever be part of me.
