Obituary of Edward A. Krupa

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Albin Krupa, 87, of Lawrenceville passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He was a father, husband, hunter, foodie, gardener and a world traveler. Born February 28, 1936, Ed grew up in the South Broad Street Park section of Hamilton and graduated from Trenton Catholic High School where he established deep loving friendships which lasted thru his entire life. Upon graduation from Alliance college, he joined his family printing business, White Eagle Printing, where he gained deep expertise in the field. He later took a job with the state of New Jersey, Division of Purchase and Property where he became the buyer for the State’s printing needs, retiring after 32 years. Ed was pre-deceased by his parents Edward & Stella Krupa, his brothers Richard and Stanley, his wife Patricia Ann (Patsy) and daughter Anna. He married the love of his life and together they had five boys and two girls. He is survived by six children and their spouses: Foster of Lawrenceville, Christopher of Crosswicks, Alan of Crosswicks, Thaddeus of Lawrenceville, Tricia of Boston, Edward of Pennington and ten grandchildren. He taught his children to fish, hunt, forage for mushrooms, and to love the outdoors. Family life centered around their home in Lawrenceville. An avid gardener he sourced his produce from the backyard (long before it became a trend) And he fed his bounty to all that gathered at the house, including the best Jersey Tomato’s, Corn and Asparagus. Proud of their Polish heritage he and Patsy prepared and served all the traditional holiday dishes. He was renowned for his award-winning Krupa Pickles recipe which was awarded first prize in the Trentonian competition in 1969. He enjoyed many good times at the Delaware Bay which centered on a collection of rustic beach cabins including the beloved “Polish Palace”. Here with the kids, he fished, crabbed and hunted ducks. Ed was a charter member of the Thompson's Beach Duck Club where he was a champion trap shooter. This club introduced outdoorsmanship, boating, responsible gun ownership and safety, oyster shucking and the pork roll sandwich to hundreds of individuals. This tradition will continue just as Ed had wished. He also enjoyed many Catch-5 card games at “the bay” that would go late into the night. Having been schooled on the game at the famed Catch-5 Clinic in Shamokin, PA he was an undisputed champion at many of the club tournaments. With Patsy’s travel bug they visited 51 countries in all including a cruise around the world aboard the Queen Mary 2. These travels cultivated many friendships from around the world, many of whom visited when their travels brought them to the U.S. The hats he acquired on trips formed the basis for his daily wardrobe, particularly the fur hats acquired from the trunk of a vehicle in a dark alley in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Not only was he a loving husband and father but also a best friend to many. With a Schaefer beer in hand and a Parodi cigar he will be again joining Patsy and breaking the rule that in heaven there is no beer.
