Obituary of Salvatore Scarlata

Salvatore Scarlata, 73, of Lawrenceville, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Monmouth Medical Center, Lakewood, NJ. Born in Villalba, Sicily, Italy, he was a former resident of North Trenton, before moving to Lawrenceville 40 years ago. Salvatore retired in 2022 after more than 50 years as a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 152. He was a longtime employee of Saker ShopRite as Manager of the Meat Department in East Windsor, NJ. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, partner and friend. He dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren. Son of the late Alfonso and Josephine Scarlata; he is survived by his two daughters and one son-in-law Lisa and James Cottone, and Renee Scarlata, his grandchildren Gabriell, Aramis and Rosario:a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Julia Scarlata; a sister, Josephine Vasta; six nieces and nephews and their spouses, Josephine and Gaetano DeAngelo, Alfonso and Dora Scarlata, Robert and Leah Scarlata, Rita and Michael Walsh, Joseph and Judy Vasta, and Nancy and Michael Reynolds; his longtime partner Deborah Pante, step-daughters Michelle and David Curry and Debbie Schein; his step-grandchildren Bianca and David and Kayla and Khloe Salvatore was preceded in death by his brother, Luigi Scarlata. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. James-Incarnation Parish, 29 East Paul Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08638. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
