Obituary of Carmen Juana Martinez

Carmen Juana Martinez, 87, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico Carmen resided in Lawrenceville for the past 30 years. Daughter of the late Juan Munoz and Felicidad Figuerora; she is survived by 5 daughters Arlene Snedeker and husband Cliff, Wanda Feig and husband Michael, Nancy Kalish and husband Chris, Jackie Hagelin, Joyce Diane Gray and husband David; son John Kenneth Martinez and wife Lori. Carmen will be deeply missed by her 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A special thank you and gratitude to her social worker, Jenna McKeever, for all her love and support and to the Hospice Team from Holy Redeemer. Carmen enjoyed going on the senior bus trips to shows and Atlantic City with her friends at the Lawrence Plaza Senior Apartment, where she lived for over 25 years. She was a member of the Sunshine Club and enjoyed going to bingo night every week. She was most proud of sponsoring children from the World Vision Organization and always looked forward to proudly placing the letters and photos she received from the children on her refrigerator. Carmen was a devoted donor to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital which was very close to heart. She very much looked forward to her grandchildrens phone calls and visits. Carmen always looked forward to the bus picking her up every Sunday for church. Her church., Casa De Dios, surprised her by building a ramp to access the church easier and had a ribbon cutting ceremony in her honor where she cut the ribbon. She will be missed for her wonderful Puerto Rican rice and beans that everyone always raved about. We will always have her stories to keep us smiling and laughing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors located at 650 Lawrence Road Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will be held at Ewing Church Cemetery in Ewing, NJ. The visitation for Carmen will be held on March 1, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
