Maryann (Castranova) Blaskovitz passed away peacefully on July 1, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Trenton, NJ, on August 8, 1929, to James P. and Laura (Immordino) Castranova, the eldest of three children. Maryann was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Class of 1947, and went to work for the state of New Jersey Department of Banking. She was a dedicated employee, serving this department for more than 45 years, before retiring in 1993 as Personnel Officer for the NJ Department of Banking and Insurance. Maryann married Stephen J. Blaskovitz in May 1955. She was a devoted wife and mother. Together they raised their daughter Laurie Ann Blaskovitz and their beloved nephew, Stephen Reeder. Maryann loved her husband and family. She delighted in decorating her homes and entertaining friends. She was always eager to travel and would be ready to go at a moment's notice. Maryann had a heart of gold and was generous to a fault. She never met a stranger. Maryann really enjoyed a good phone call. She was passionate about talking to and keeping up with family and friends.
Maryann was predeceased by her sister, Grace Castranova Reeder and her beloved husband of 55 years, Steve. She was "Mare" to her brother, Guy Castranova (Judy). She was mom to her daughter, Laurie Ann Krzyston (Mark), and "Mimi" to Stephen Joseph Reeder. She was an adored grandmother to Stephen Francis Krzyston (Meredith Ann) and Cailtin Krzyston Carroll (Ben), Noah Reeder and Aliya Reeder. She was great-grandmother to the apple of her eye, Carter Elizabeth Krzyston and "Aunt Mimi" to her much loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
We will gather to celebrate her life with a viewing on Sunday from 6 - 8pm at the Poulson and Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30am in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, W. Trenton, NJ 08628.
Burial in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.
