I came across this only now, in 2019, and recalled meeting Jaro in 1971. He was kind to me, a nervous girl newly moved to Princeton after having graduated high school. At the time I was dating a young Czech man who introduced us. Jaro was pleasant and wise and very memorable.

To our dear Yaro and family:
Having lost my parents in the last years, it is with sincere empathy to express my deepest condolences to the family that I grew up knowing so well. I understand how much Yaro meant to the family and that he will be missed very much for the rest of our lives. I want to thank Roland for reaching out to me to let me know so I could share some thoughts on this day. I remember the days when we were kids playing together and Yaro would always have something to tell me. I liked to listen to him and he usually had some very interesting stories or analysis to share with me. Roland reminded me of one of the times that he also appreciated my presence as well. I know that my parents considered the Mraceks to be their closest friends that they knew since also coming over to the USA. I write this with my mother in mind, who passes almost one year to the day as Yaroslav. Now I shed some tears.
May you rest in peace,
Your friend, Ricky

Unfortunately I never had the chance to meet this wonderful man, husband and father. As a friend of Roland and Carina, I had the chance to talk once with his spouse Eva and shared many memories from Germany with her and Roland. Jaroslav managed to keep his family very close together and this, in my eyes, might be the greatest accomplishment in his life!
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and I am certain that God will grant him a place at his side.
