Catherine Joan Stackhouse, 90, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 5th, at home. She was born on October 4, 1931, in Trenton, NJ. Joan was a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 66 years. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton. Joan was a stay at home mom until her kids were of school age and began working at Ben Franklin Elementary school. Joan retired in 1993 from Bedens Brook Country Club as a waitress with long-time friend and neighbor Sarah Keegan. She was proud of her trip to Ireland with Sarah and kissing the Blarney stone, remembering it fondly. Joan was a regular at various Bingo spots, enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City and vacations out west with her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law with visits to many National Parks. She was Girl Scout Leader to her girls when they were in elementary school. Daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Kitty) Hannon and wife of the late Charles “Charlie” Muschert Stackhouse, Joan is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Sullivan and husband Steve, Brenda Burke and husband Tim, and her two sons, Chip Stackhouse and wife Robin and Russell Stackhouse. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chaz, Lacey, Danny, Russell and John Reid Stackhouse, Eric Sullivan and Stefanie Nye, and great-grandchildren, Cayce and Donovan Sullivan and Owen and Noelle Nye, sisters-in-law, Marion Ottinger and Jean Stackhouse, brother-in-law Ted Dills and several nieces and nephews. Her sister-in-law Marion introduced Joan to Charlie while working at the NJ Bell Telephone Company. The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for the gentle and loving care.
