Obituary of Charles J. Zimmer

Charles J. Zimmer Jr., 84 of Trenton, died Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Trenton, he had resided most of his life in the city.
Mr. Zimmer was a retired caster with Trenton Potteries and later worked for Coca-Cola and later worked as a pressman for Dow Jones in South Brunswick.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Zimmer enjoyed playing soccer and was a former member of the Miga and the Velieus Soccer Clubs. He was known for playing Santa at various veterans? organizations Christmas parties.
Mr. Zimmer was a member of St. Hedwig R.C. Church and the Holy Name Society, Charter and Life Member of North Trenton American Legion Post #458, Life Member of Lawrence Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3022 and the Trenton Polish American Democratic Club (TPADS).
He was a former member of Lawrence Lodge #2412 B.P.O.E.
Son of the late Charles Sr. and Nellie Backes Zimmer, brother of the late Frank Zimmer and Ellen Scullion, grandfather of the late Robert Gore and husband of the late Eugenia ( Florence ) Stoy Zimmer, he is survived by two daughters Patricia Gore, Barbara Zimmer and her husband John McCullough and a son Charles J. Zimmer III and his wife Donna, four grandchildren George Gore and his wife Jaime, Katie Gore and John William McCullough and Aimee McCullough and a great granddaughter Brianna Gore. Also surviving are a brother William G. Zimmer and his wife Stephanie and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Hedwig R.C. Church in Trenton. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Hamilton. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
American Legion Post #458 will render a service at 7 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mr. Zimmer?s memory be made to American Legion Post #458, Rehabilitation Fund, 1438 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08638.
