Obituary of Mary R. Hazen

Mary R. Hazen, 92, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 8, 2021 Mary was born in Trenton, New Jersey and was a resident until her marriage, and then moved to Lawrenceville, New Jersey. She was a graduate of the Class of 1947 from Cathedral High School. She retired from Lawrence Township Board of Education as a guidance secretary. Mary was past President of the Former Lawrence Elks 2412 Auxiliary, member of the American Legion 414 auxiliary, Cathedral Alumni Association and Lawrence Township Volunteer First Aid Squad. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Burke, brothers, John, David, George and Thomas Burke, sister Patricia Schwing, sister in-laws Marie and Jeanette Burke, Joan Fry, and her brother in-law Harry Fry; she is survived by her loving husband Robert Hazen; two daughters and sons-in-law Patricia Devlin (Peter), and Maureen Fritsky (Joseph); two granddaughters Denise Rettzo (Richard), and Brianne Foley (Christopher); one Great Granddaughter Alexandra Rettzo; her sister-in-law Sharon Burke, and her brother-in-law Jack Schwing and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will be private. The viewing for Mary will be held on Monday morning from 10-11AM in the daily chapel at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society (breast cancer research) or St. Ann’s School (to help people pay for tuition to attend school).
