Obituary of Pauline H. Darbee

Please share a memory of Pauline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pauline H. Darbee, 95, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Capital Health Medical Center at Hopewell. Born in St. Louis, Missouri Pauline has been a resident of Lawrenceville for the past 61 years. A Medical Technologist, she was employed by several local hospitals prior to her being employed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Health from which she retired at age 88 in 2014 after 25 years of dedicated service. Pauline’s work ethic and dedication to her community through volunteerism (CONTACT of Mercer County, Deacon at PCOL, Sunday school teacher at PCOL and Princeton Methodist Church, volunteer for Thresholds and CPSI, IFSS, Al-Anon), provided a role model that her children and grandchildren can emulate. She was rarely idle, holding knitting, Scherenschnitte, crotchet work, a crossword puzzle, or a book in hand. She was a dedicated, loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Pauline shared her collection of well-known adages often and was fond of reminding all that “Love doesn’t make the world go ’round—Love is what makes the ride worthwhile” (F.P. Jones). These attributes, with her sense of humor, sense of fun, and highly-competitive card playing, will be remembered fondly. Daughter of the late Harry and Katherine Harito, wife of the late Leonard Ray Darbee and mother-in-law of the late Mary Jane Darbee, Pauline is survived by two daughters, Deborah Darbee and fiancé Walter Zoladz and Rebecca Darbee and husband Brad Nelson; two sons Brian Darbee and Douglas Darbee; grandchildren Darbee Harrington, Dru Bleem and husband Chase Lescher, Michael Darbee, Elizabeth Darbee and Rachel Darbee; and great-grandchildren Lucas and Lilly Bleem and Charlotte Harrington. Funeral services for Pauline will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11 AM at The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, 2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24th from 4 to 7 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Memorial contributions to honor Pauline may be made to The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville at pclawrenceville.org or NAMI Mercer, National Alliance on Mental Illness, at namimercer.org.
