Sorry to hear about Gene, I just found out that he passed, some of my best memories are of the week that Gene, my brother Paul and myself spent at Beach Haven in 2012. We all grew up in Elliott and went to St. James, those were good times. He was a great guy..

I have a lot of fond memories of my uncle from camping as a little kid to letting me learn how to drive a stick shift on his 72 vw bug and long discussions of woodworking/remodeling projects we both enjoyed doing. The easiest way i can sum up my uncle Gene is that he was a very selfless great man who cared deeply for his family and friends.
he is going to be missed terribly by me and I'm sure anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace. Kevin Szafranski

Eulogy for my Uncle Gene
A most kind and gentle soul has been called Home to be with his Mother and Daddy, his sister Dolly and her husband Casey, his nephew Kenny, and his faithful dog Bandit.
Gene Chrzanowski lived his life true to his values and passions. He was fiercely independent and had just as strong a love for Family. He was a quiet man by nature, with a serene way about him.
In Pittsburgh, he was his high school class president, and furthered his education at St. Vincent College. Before receiving a Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, he spent 4 years serving his country in the Air Force, and was stationed in Northern Pakistan and Germany. He was proud to have served.
Gene was a Russian translator, worked in construction. and retired after working with Reed Technology. His interests and passions were always pursued alongside those varied careers. He was co-owner of the family shore house on Long Beach Island, and loved spending time there in the off-season with the small, equally hardy tight-knit community. He would craft beautiful tables and shelves with his woodworking skills, create a hidden closet over a staircase, and his expert fence and walkway even survived Superstorm Sandy! We would all marvel at what he would come up with over the winter months. He would practice Tai Chi on the beach, and would go for long runs. In a family of athletic people, Gene was the only one to have taken on and successfully complete the challenging Long Beach Island 18 Mile Run. And his family was out there supporting him all along the route.
Family meant so much to Gene. You knew that because he was always there at every gathering. He showed up. Whether it was Christmas, Easter, or summer picnics, he was there for every celebration. He always made the drive, and his drive was invariably the longest! He was a loving brother, and he stayed in touch with all his nephews and nieces, and was a presence throughout their lives.
Music was his greatest passion. Blessed with a beautiful bass voice, he sang in a high school band, a college choral group, and for 25 years was a member of the Bucks County Choral Society. Based in Doylestown, Pa, the BCCS performed locally, throughout the mid-Atlantic states, and internationally in Brazil and Russia. A highlight of the Christmas Season was always their annual performance at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale, Pa. The concert would end with the procession of singers lining the inside walls of the church, and with lights out and each holding a lit candle, they would sing "Silent Night" a cappella, then blow out their candles to end the event. Afterward, family and friends would gather at a local restaurant to celebrate the evening. Gene would sit at the head of the table beaming, and relished in bringing his love of friends, family and music all together.
Friends made over the course of Gene's life were friends kept. Friends like Victor Fiorina and Dan Topley from college, Marjorie Apple from his Long Beach Island days, Steve Rock and Raighne Kirk from the Bucks County Choral Society,
And his loving companion Alison Temple from Hamilton Township.
The one thing Gene never had, over the course of his entire life, was an enemy. He was loved and respected by everyone who ever knew him.
Silent Night, dear sweet Brother...cherished Godfather and Uncle...Loving Companion and Friend,
Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
