Obituary of Michael J Simonelli

Michael J. Simonelli, 70, passed away July 2, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, Michael was a Lawrenceville resident for 63 years before moving to Bordentown in 2001. Michael was a police officer with the Lawrence Township Police Department for 31 1/2 years retiring as a Captain in 1993. He was the recipient of numerous commendable service awards during his tenure. Michael also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his cousin Frank Pasquito. He was a veteran of the NJ Army National Guard and was a member of Lawrence Township American Legion Post #414. He was also a member of the Lawrence Township PBA Local #119 and the Bordentown Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 2085. Predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Lena Simonelli and his father-in-law, Theodore J. Zorn, he is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dorothea; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Linda Simonelli of Bordentown; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marc Peloquin of Lawrenceville; his mother-in-law, Margaret Zorn; his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Larry Dougherty; his brother and sister-in-law, Dominic and Marge Simonelli; his brother, John Simonelli; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Martin Kusek; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Theodore and Deborah Zorn; his grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Simonelli and Joseph Peloquin; aunts, Margaret Kalafut and Marie Simonelli, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Michael's funeral will be held on Wednesday beginning at 9 AM from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd., Lawrenceville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann, Lawrenceville. Burial will be in the Ewing Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
