Obituary of Marie C. Meseroll

Marie C. Meseroll, 86, of Lawrenceville died Tuesday at the Capital Health System at Fuld in Trenton.
Born in Scranton, PA, she had resided in Lawrenceville since 1960.
Marie had attended Bucknell University and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She had worked as a processing clerk in the 1940's for the Department of Veterans' Affairs in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
She was a member of the Bucknell University Alumni Club, St. Ann's Sunshine Choir, St. Ann's Resurrection Choir, Friends of the Mercer County Library, and the Lawrence Arts Council. She was a Docent for the NJ State Museum and Pennsbury Manor Volunteer. Marie was a former director of Foodways at Pennsbury Manor and edited the A Pennsbury Manor Cookbook; Adapted from the Recipes of Gulielma Penn. She had been president of the Lawrence Junior High PTA, a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop leader, Cub Scout den leader, a coach for the Lawrence Swim Club, a Poll checker, Senior Center choraliers choir director and pianist, and past president of the St. Francis Elementary School PTA in Metuchen.
Marie enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing the piano and singing. She also enjoyed comforting and cooking for her many friends. She is remembered in Metuchen as an active member of the community. The Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ is named in honor of her first husband, who lost his life in combat during WWII.
Daughter of the late Sidney and Dorothy Knoll Grabowski, wife to the late Forrest Chilton III (1944) and Charles Pearson Meseroll (2007) and mother of the late Charles Robert Meseroll, she is survived by her two sons; Forrest Chilton and his wife Valerie, and Tom Meseroll and his wife Jill, her two daughters; Dotti McLean and her husband Brian and Barbara Smith and her husband Bob, her eight grandchildren; Forrest V, Annemarie, Chris, Colin, Kathy, Michael, Melina and Trevor, her five great grandchildren; Tabitha, Annabel, Katherine, Torquil and Mae, her sister, Dorothy Grabowski, her brothers; George and Robert Grabowski, her cousin, Ann Horan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are her brothers-in-law; Paul Lenchuk, and Tom Chilton and his wife Henrietta, and her sister-in-law Suzanne Hellyer and her husband Ken. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Mattern and her brother, Sidney Grabowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville. Friends may call on Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the church in the daily chapel. Burial will be private.
