Gregorio “Bill” Varra, 91, of West Trenton, NJ passed away at his residence on Sunday, March 26, 2017. Born in Trenton, NJ, Bill moved back to Italy as a child and was raised and educated in Calimera, Italy upon returning back to the United States in 1947 after World War II. He was formerly employed as a sign fabricator with the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Turnpike Authority for 25 years, before retiring in 1991. Bill was a member of the Baron Athletic Association and enjoyed playing Bocce and watching the NY Yankees. He also loved Italian food and drinking Chianti wine. Son of the late Rocco and Sarafina (Varone) Varra; brother of the late Catherine Maruca; he is survived by his wife of 67 years Concetta (Connie) Varra; a son and daughter-in-law, Rocco and Brenda Varra of Lawrenceville; a granddaugher and husband, Krista and Manny Montez of Lawrenceville; a great-granddaughter Dena Marie Montez; a cousin Dominic Varone; and also survived by two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Funeral services for Bill will be held on Friday, March 31st at 11AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Entombment will follow in Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Visitation hours will be held on Friday morning from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Memorial gifts to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Road, Ewing, NJ 08628 would be appreciated.
