Wendell Dwight Davis, 86, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Friday with his daughters by his side at Manor Care Health Services, Yardley, PA. Born in Indian Head, Pa. Wendell was a resident of Ewing Township for many years prior to his move to Lawrenceville in the year 2000. As a young man Wendell worked on the family farm during the summer and also was once employed by the B & O Railroad. He then began a career with the US Steel Fairless Works where he retired as a Maintenance Motor Foreman after 37 years of service. Wendell also served his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Son of the late Earl and Luella Miller Davis, husband of 38 years to the late Gladys James Davis, father-in-law to the late Bruce Bennett, brother of the late Everett Davis and his late wife Sarah and brother-in-law to the late Bernard Savage and William James; Wendell is survived by his daughters, Anna Preiss and her husband Glenn and Betty Bennett; his grandchildren, Lisa, Kyle and Lindsay Bennett; his sister, Carol Savage; his sister-in-law, Shirley Dodrill and her husband Ron; best friends, Ray Bennett and his son Bill and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Wendell will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Burial will follow in Princeton Memorial Park in Robbinsville. Friends may call on Thursday from 10 to 11AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Gilda’s Club of Delaware Valley, 200 Kirk Road, Warminster, PA 18974.
