Jean Gatsch passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday January 15, 2017, one month after having celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends. Born in Trenton and a life-long resident of the area, Jean lived in Lawrenceville since 1939. She was a 1935 graduate of Trenton High School, an accomplished athlete and the captain of the tennis team. Jean was a long-time employee of the Lawrence Township Board of Education until her retirement and a member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church. The last surviving sibling, Jean was one of 13 children of George and Ann Halliday; Martha, William, Marion, Joseph, Robert, George, Melville, Hannah, Ruth, Jean, Alice, Harold and Ann. Predeceased by her husband Albert Gatsch, Jean is survived by her son James Gatsch and his wife Mary, along with her grandson Christopher, his wife Alexandra and her great granddaughter Lucia. Additionally, she leaves behind many close friends and extended family. A memorial service will be held at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrenceville, NJ.
