Joan Elizabeth Shaw Gray, 88, of Hightstown, NJ (formerly of Lawrenceville, NJ) passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
Born in Buffalo, NY, she has resided at the Meadow Lakes Community for the past 15 years. Joan was a graduate of SUNY at Buffalo, Albright Art School and Western Michigan University. She served with distinction as an Art Teacher in the Lawrence Township School System and in an extracurricular and talented program and as a private instructor. She helped create and promote the Arts at Meadow Lakes as a teacher, mentor and friend. She generously donated her time to a number of organizations including, Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, The Discovery Shop, The Lawrence Arts Council, The Garden Gate Garden Club and the Trenton Soup Kitchen.
Daughter of the late William A. and Charlotte E. Shaw, and wife of the late Lawrence C. Gray; she is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth Felker and her husband Bruce; her son, William Gray and his wife Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Courtney Felker, Ryan Felker and his wife Sophia, and Cody and Dylan Gray. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Charron Kissam and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held for Joan on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12 Noon at The Meadow Lakes Community, 300 Etra Road, Hightstown, NJ 08520.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Vitas Healthcare/Hospice, 521 Fellowship Drive, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
