Catherine “Kay” Palazey, 90, of Lawrenceville died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 15th. Born in Trenton she was a resident of Lawrenceville for 65 years. Kay retired in 1996 as an administrative assistant with the Mercer County Bar Association. She previously was employed as an administrative assistant to the plant manager at Westinghouse Electric in Trenton and also the administrative assistant to the president of AeroChem Research Lab in Princeton before joining the bar association. Kay was a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals and had served as president of the association. She also had served as the chairwoman of the Retirement Center Trust of the International Association of Administrative Professionals for the Vista Grande Retirement Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. On August 7, 2006 at the IAAP convention in Reno, Nevada Catherine was presented a proclamation from then Gov. John Corzine of NJ naming that day “Kay Palazey Day” in recognition of becoming the first international president of IAAP from New Jersey. In her youth she was a member of the Aquabelles, a synchronized swimming club at the Trenton Y.W.C.A. and performed both locally and at the Jersey shore and in the Poconos. Kay was a long time member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and the church choir. She also had served as a church officer for many years and was a member of the sisterhood. She was an active member of the Lawrence Township Senior Center and was also active in both Clubs 1 and 2. Daughter of the late Andrew and Paraskewia Kososky Kawka, wife of the late Walter Palazey, sister of the late Michael Kawka and grandmother of the late Michael Rosina, she is survived by her daughter, Katherine Rosina and her husband John of Bordentown; her grandchildren, Edward Rosina II and his wife Meagan and John W. Rosina and his wife Lauren; her great-grandchildren, Colston Thomas Rosina, Marlee Michael Rosina, Cooper Edward Rosina and Cameron Michael Rosina; a sister-in-law, Rose Palazey and 2 nieces, Grace Cardwell and Alexis Sass. Kay’s funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 824 Adeline St., Trenton. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery in Hamilton. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Rd. Lawrenceville. Panachida services will be held at 8 PM In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 824 Adeline St., Trenton, NJ 08610.
