Marion Eileen Whitacre (nèe Jones) of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, to Elizabeth and Harry Jones, Marion had two sisters whom she adored, the late Dolores Furst and the late Shirley Pregizer. As a young woman, Marion worked as a legal secretary for RCA, where she met her late husband, Eugene (“Gene”) Whitacre, whom she married on September 6, 1950. Marion and Gene moved to Lawrenceville, NJ, where they spent most of their life together and raised their four children. Possessing a larger-than-life personality, Marion was known for her feisty spirit, her fierce protectiveness and devotion to her family, her sharp sense of style, her fondness for animal prints and sparkles, and her Irish jig. Marion’s Catholic faith, her family, and her sense of independence were most important to her. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Karen Gaylord Anderson and Mark Anderson, Cheryl and Paul Meehan, Eugene (Jr.) and Carrie Whitacre, and Kimberly and Christopher Williams. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Marion on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Burial will follow at the Pennington Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
