Ethel M. Powers, 87, of Mercerville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Ethel was a longtime resident of Mercerville. She is a retiree of the Brooklyn Archdiocese, where she was employed as a bookkeeper for many years. Ethel was a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Eva Vickers; wife of the late Thomas J. Powers; she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Maryellen and Albert Rende, Sr.; four grandchildren and their spouses Albert, Jr. (Marcella), Lauren (Ed), Thomas (Samantha) and Mark; three great-grandchildren Luke, Avery and Lydia; three brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Dee Vickers, Robert Vickers and Albert and Ann Vickers; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will begin at 10:00AM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony’s Parish 3816 East State St. Ext. Hamilton, NJ 08619 Interment will follow at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. Relatives and friends can call on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8PM at the funeral home Due to floral restrictions with the cemetery, memorial donations can be made to Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton 383 West State Street Trenton, NJ 08607-1423.
