Irvin R. Jiras, 86, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Monday at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Hopewell. Born and raised in Steelton, Pa; Irvin has been a resident of Lawrenceville since 1959. He was a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Class of 1952 and received his Master’s + 30 from Trenton State College. He retired in 1992 after 37 years of service as a mathematics teacher at Ewing High School where he also had served as the Department Chair for Mathematics’. While at Ewing High he also served as a head track coach and assistant football coach. He was named to the Ewing High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his coaching contributions and was also a member of the Franklin & Marshall College Hall of Fame for his football accomplishments. Irvin was a long time active member of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church. Son of the late Rudolph and Ruth McGary Jiras he is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Sheridan Jiras; his children, Mark Jiras and wife Kim, Marcia Drozdowski and husband Duane and Scott Jiras and wife Jaclyn; his 11 grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, William, Kristina, Tyler, Cody, John, Todd, Cheryl, Kevin, and Taylor; his 7 great-grandchildren; a niece, 3 nephews; his former daughters-in-law, Geralyn Lordi and Barbara Koernig and former son-in-law, John Brown, Jr. Memorial services for Irvin will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 11 AM at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church.
