Obituary of Mary Ann Elizabeth Liptak

Mary Ann Liptak, 71, of Lawrenceville died peacefully at home on Monday August 1, 2016. Born in Trenton, Mary Ann was a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville. She graduated from Notre-Dame High School in 1962 and continued her education receiving her BA in English and French from Rider College, Class of 1966 and earned her MA in Educational Administration from Rider in 1988. She retired this year from Notre-Dame High School where she was a teacher, past Dean of Academics, past Chair of English and World Studies and past vice-principal. In 1990 she was nominated to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and thereafter for seven years. She was a past member of Phi Delta Kappa, an International Association for Professional Educators, since 1991 and was a past member of ASCD (Association of School and Curriculum Development) and NJASCD. Mary Ann was a very active member for many years at St. Michael’s Church where she was a past president of the parish council, a former trustee and former director of the parish’s education committee and finance committee. Daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Baran Liptak, she is survived by her Aunt Lillian C. Baran, her cousin George Schumm and his wife Diana and their children, Casey Megna and Kirstin Schumm and numerous friends, colleagues and former students. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mary Ann on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Entombment will follow in the Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ. Visitation for Mary Ann will be on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ.
