Obituary of Charles W. Vail
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles William Vail
Do not mourn my passing; I lived well, having met and married a loving, caring woman, one so beautiful as to still leave me breathless. We made a life together and brought up two wonderful children who have since grown into honest, caring, hardworking adults. My greatest joy was my wife’s love.
My greatest accomplishments were teaching her to drive a car with a manual transmission and introducing her to the pleasures of a good single-malt Scotch. Sadly, throughout my life, too many petty, narrow-minded people told me that I just didn’t fit in. So be it.
“Thus let me live, unseen, unknown; thus unlamented let me die, steal from this world, and not a stone tell where I lie.”
Charles William Vail was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on June 6, 1947, the son of Ira Duffy Vail and Mary Charlyn Miller. He was named after Charles Ed-ward Miller, his mother’s father, and Ly-man William Hoffecker, his father’s grand-father.
Mr. Vail died May 20th, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Davis Vail; his son and daughter, Travis Beaman Vail and Melissa Elaine Vail; and his two sisters, Elisabeth Jo Houston and Jennifer Sue Spedden.
Services are being held privately and at the convenience of the family.
